POSITION SUMMARY:

The participant will gain direct experience in marketing, sales, promotions and relationship building in an arts environment. This position supports the on-going promotions, contests and marketing activities that generate ticket revenue and public awareness of each show and the over-all Canadian Stage brand.

KEY RELATIONSHIPS:

  • Member of the Sales, Marketing and Communications department
  • Reports directly to the Senior Marketing and Sales Manager

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Organize research and implement ideas for new and innovative marketing and advertising campaigns
  • Assisting the Senior Marketing and Sales Manager on implementing marketing and advertising campaigns, ensuring that ads are accurate and on deadline
  • Tracking and filing of all marketing/promotional activities, and related collateral
  • Updating the company website and creating and deploying the e-newsletter
  • Responsible for marketing accounting needs
  • Strategic distribution of flyers and posters
  • Research and organize promotional opportunities
  • Assist in developing promotional proposals
  • Assist in developing follow-up reports and general correspondence
  • Create flyers and some in-house signage, as required
  • Process and mail charity vouchers
  • Organizing, researching and implementing strategic contests and promotions to boost the Canadian Stage profile and generate awareness
  • Coordinate in theatre ‘Seat-Note’ program
  • Coordinate Concierge outreach program
  • Work closely with volunteers
  • Participate in department meetings and record & distribute minutes for team members follow-up
  • Assist in the development of Web initiatives, including social networking, blogging, and wikis
  • Assist department with various tasks and admin duties as assigned
  • Participate in special events such as opening nights, dress rehearsals and fundraising events
  • Must be available to work traditional office hours as well as occasional weekend and evening hours
  • This is a permanent full time position

IDEAL PERSONAL QUALITIES:

  • Superb organizational skills
  • Strong computer skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Photoshop, and Microsoft Publisher
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills, integrity, high energy, creativity, a collaborative spirit, and the cultural sensitivity needed to work effectively in a diverse environment of artists, producers, creative and management team
  • A passion for the performing arts and the desire to be part of a vibrant Canadian contemporary theatre company
  • A desire to pursuer a career in the performing arts
  • Knowledge of Audience View and Dreamweaver an asset
