Currently an employment opportunity exists in our Marketing Department for a full time Marketing Coordinator. Reporting to the Manager of Marketing, this position is responsible for Harbourfront Centre’s online marketing materials and communications and acts a departmental lead for Tessitura database.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Create all copy for Harbourfront Centre website, e-vites, e-blasts and new media including repurposed content and original writing, ensuring accuracy, grammatical correctness, fluency and brand consistency for all on-line copy.
  • Develop and manage a strategy for keeping the website current and updated, ensuring balance in conjunction with the organizations goals and priorities.
  • Develop and implement an effective e-communications strategy.
  • Liaise with Manager, Marketing and marketing team members to create and strategize on marketing plans and their on line components.
  • Manage dockets, copy and internal circulations of all web and on-line marketing initiatives.
  • Act as department power user on the Tessitura Database, and contribute to the development and implementation strategies for the database and the department.
  • Manage all marketing department contact lists, and create all mailing and email lists and labels.
  • Collaborate with web and marketing team members to enhance website functionality and develop innovative ways to effectively meet customer needs.

The ideal candidate will have a post secondary education in marketing, communications or journalism with a minimum of 2 years related work experience. He/she must have proven experience in web writing and editing skills. The incumbent must be a creative thinker with an eye for detail, and possess outstanding oral and written communication skills with a passion for writing and good knowledge of grammar and style. Excellent computer skills with thorough knowledge of website and new media marketing are required. He/she must be a team player with strong interpersonal skills to deal tactfully and diplomatically with a wide variety of people. He/she must possess strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple assignments while meeting deadlines. He/she must be flexible, able to work some evenings and weekends, and thrive in a challenging and collaborative work environment. Experience in the not-for-profit cultural sector would be considered an asset.

Job Posting: Chief Artistic/Executive Officer, The Canadian Stage Company

As the chief architect of The Canadian Stage Company’s vision and artistic profile, the successful candidate will occupy the unique and highly visible leadership position of the organization. The ideal candidate will be able to articulate a clear, distinctive, imaginative, and compelling artistic plan for the company’s future.

This position is currently titled “Artistic Producer” with a mandate to balance the artistic and management sides of the company as The Canadian Stage Company’s Chief Executive Officer. The position is responsible for artistic planning and overall management, including artistic production, fiscal stewardship, board and community relations, fund-raising, education, and artistic development. A strong network throughout the theatre industry is vital.

The Canadian Stage Company is Canada’s largest contemporary not-for-profit theatre (the third largest company in Canada) with an annual budget in excess of $9 Million.

Dedicated to developing and presenting landmark Canadian plays, as well as presenting international repertoire, the Company performs in four distinct venues: the 876-seat Bluma Appel Theatre in the St. Lawrence Centre for the Arts, the Berkeley Street facility with the 246-seat Downstairs and 167-seat Upstairs Theatres, and the 1,100-seat outdoor High Park amphitheatre. The Company currently employs 36 full-time staff, 20 part-time staff, and over 200 artists each season, serving an annual audience of over 150,000. A 35 member Board of Directors governs the organization.

  • The ability to build effective working relationships with artists, theatre industry colleagues, donors, board members, community leaders and funding agencies;
  • A leadership approach that will create a positive, mutually supportive working relationship between the artistic and administrative sides of the company.

Toronto is a highly competitive market for theatrical activity, as well as the home of many other large nationally and internationally recognized performing arts organizations such as The National Ballet of Canada, Canadian Opera Company, and Toronto Symphony Orchestra, among many, many others. The current senior management team consists of an executive producer/general manager, and experienced directors of marketing, communications and sales, development, production and artistic/audience development. The current Artistic Producer is stepping down at the end of the 2008/09 season after 17 years with the Company.

Job Posting: Outreach and Development, Rasik Arts

Rasik Arts, an established producer of South Asian theatre in Toronto is looking for an experienced development person with a proven track record to develop and maintain sponsorship and partnership opportunities for the company and manage a concerted fundraising campaign with the assistance of the company’s Board of Directors. A minimum of three to five years fundraising experience in cultivating and soliciting major support is required, preferably in the performing arts. This is a 4 month flexible time (@2 days a week) contract with the possibility of renewal at the end of the period.
Responsibilities:

  • Liaise with other organizations to foster cross promotional activities
  • Support all activities related to donors and prospects including email campaigns, solicitations, cultivation and fundraising events
  • Develop and implement strategies for renewing and increasing of gifts
  • Develop Rasik Arts profile in the South Asian community as well as the mainstream through the media and public events
  • Create an inclusive outreach strategy to maximize the community’s participation in Rasik Arts’ events
  • Research, develop and maintain strong partnerships with government funding agencies and foundations

Skills Required:

  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • Self-starter who is an enthusiastic team player
  • Experience with fund raising software such as SUMAC or Raizer’s Edge would be very useful
  • Creative partnership building skills
  • Knowledge of theatre community an asset

Workshop: Upper Body Care for Artists with Ginette Hamel and Dr. Jean-Jacques Dugoua, Artists’ Health Centre

Monday October 6, 2008 at the Al & Malka Green Artists’ Health Centre Toronto Western Hospital (3rd floor classroom) 399 Bathurst Street Toronto, Ontario.

This clinic will focus on repetitive strain, arthritis, frozen shoulder, carpal tunnel and the relationship between the neck and upper body injuries. A small group format encourages participants to discuss specific injuries and participate in stretches and exercises while learning about treatment options and managing ongoing issues.
*Upper body includes: neck, upper back, shoulders, upper arms and wrists.

Dr. Jean-Jacques Dugoua HBSc ND PhD (cand.) is a researcher at the Motherisk Program at Sick Kids Hospital. He is a licensed naturopathic doctor and the Clinic Director of the Liberty Clinic in downtown Toronto. He has over a dozen peer-reviewed scientific publications published or in press, and is a leading expert on natural health products, pharmacology and pregnancy safety. An avid public speaker, Dr.JJ has given over two-dozen presentations to pharmacists, medical professionals, government, academics, artists and musicians, students, teachers and the general public. He has also given presentations internationally, including the World Health Organization in Washington DC.

Ginette Hamel, BSc PT, is trained in sports physiotherapy and is a certified Pilates instructor. She has more than 20 years of experience as a physiotherapist and specializes in the treatment of performing artists. Ginette has worked with the Royal Winnipeg Ballet, the National Ballet School and is currently consultant physiotherapist at the National Ballet of Canada and with the musical Dirty Dancing. She has been working with the Artists’ Health Centre since it opened in 2002.
