Te-Amim Music Theatre has part-time work available for an Educational Outreach Coordinator for fall and spring contracts.
This is primarily a communications position, focusing on promoting our programs to elementary and high school educators, Boards of Education and other stakeholders. We are presently working with Boards of Education in Toronto, Peel Region, Durham, Halton and others.
Duties include:
- Liaise with school contacts by email, phone and in person, as appropriate, to generate bookings for shows and workshops
- Generate materials as needed for promotion of shows & workshops
- Create, grow and maintain database of school contacts
- Assist with coordinating and documenting of shows & workshops (photo, video, press clippings, feedback…)
The ideal candidate will have:
- A background in communications and marketing and/or education outreach
- Excellent communication skills
- Excellent MS office skills
- Experience with data entry / database management
- Familiarity with Ontario Curriculum Guidelines is an asset
- An understanding of theatre industry is an asset
- Driver’s license an asset
Term of Contracts:
- Fall: October 27, 2008 – December 12, 2008 (Anticipated Start Date)
- Spring: February 2 2009 – May 29, 2009. This is a growth-oriented position.
Salary: $15/hr for 2 days / week

Te-Amim Music Theatre
Te-Amim is the only company in Canada using the theatre stage to look at the history and legacy of the Holocaust as a route to addressing anti-racist issues through artistic expression and exploration. The company creates and develops new Canadian plays and produces main-stage theatrical productions. Te-Amim offers artist residencies for elementary and high schools that serve to stimulate creativity and self expression while empowering the students to develop awareness of the issues and an understanding of what they can do to promote social justice in their everyday lives.
History
Founded by Helena Fine, Te-Amim Music Theatre evolved from Magical Basket Productions (1989) and was incorporated as a non-profit organization in 2000, receiving its Charitable Registration in 2002. Since then we have worked closely with STAF and other arts service organizations to strengthen and build the administrative capacity of the organization. With the support of the Ontario Arts Council Compass Program, a strategic plan was developed in 2006. As a result, Te-Amim has hired its first administrator and moved into new offices. Since its inception, the company has produced 8 main stage productions, four of them Canadian premieres, and has reached over 70,000 learners. We have offered more than 20 arts education residencies in schools, each lead by 3-5 artists from various disciplines.
Our season of activities involves the creation of a play either through the adaptation of a literary work or the commissioning of a new work followed by a full scale production at a main-stage theatre venue. We offer arts education residencies in schools based on the themes and issues in the play. In addition we provide educational materials as well as training for educators on the use of arts to address and explore sensitive issues within the curriculum such as genocide, human rights and social justice. Our current season includes three arts education projects; Arts2Action, Unsung Heroes and A Message of Peace. We will also present Anne Frank: The Diary, a staged reading by German Muslim actress Asli Bayram; to date booked at capacity in 18 schools for over 4000 elementary and high school learners. In total Te-Amim aims to reach over 10,000 learners with our 2008-09 programs.
