This is a reminder that deadline for the 2009 Leonard McHardy and John Harvey Award is Thursday May 15, 2009.
The Leonard McHardy and John Harvey Award was founded by Elizabeth Comper. Elizabeth is a past Board Member at the Tarragon Theatre, and a long-time supporter of the arts in Toronto, particularly recognized with her association to the Siminovitch Prize. Last year the inaugural Leonard McHardy and John Harvey Award was presented to Jim LeFrancois. For more information click here.
The Leonard McHardy and John Harvey Award (LMJH) recognizes the work of theatre, dance and opera administrators. The scope of “administrators” is broad and diverse and includes but is not limited to; producers, general managers, executive directors, publicists, marketing managers, directors of development, business managers, box office managers and front of house managers.
Eligibility Criteria for the Leonard McHardy and John Harvey Award
- Individuals eligible for the LMJH award are not emerging administrators but must have demonstrated a minimum 10 year commitment and impact to the performing arts industry in Toronto (defined for these purposes as theatre, dance and opera);
- The winner will be chosen by the Selection Committee from nominations?received from the TAPA membership;
- The winner will receive a cash prize of $1,000 and a plaque awarded by?TAPA through the generous sponsorship of Elizabeth Comper.

Submissions will be reviewed and considered by the LMJH Committee. The Committee is Chaired by Sandy Tulloch, and also is comprised of Derrick Chua, John Harvey, Gayle Matthews and Jacoba Knaapen. The recipient for the Leonard McHardy and John Harvey will be announced at the Dora press conference on June 3, 2009.
