The Theatre Production Program at Humber College trains students to work in a variety of fields in the professional theatre and related areas of the performing arts and the entertainment industry. All instructors bring a considerable body of professional experience to the courses they teach.
The program requires a part-time instructor to teach the following courses starting this September:
Sound 1
A mandatory course for first-year students taught in the Winter Semester (January-April). This covers basic theory and the hands-on setup and use of analogue sound equipment for PA, reinforcement, and playback. This course is taught for 7 hours per week: a 1-hour lecture to the entire class and three 2-hour lab periods with smaller groups.
Sound 2
An elective course for second-year students taught in the Fall Semester (September-December) for 2 hours per week. This course concentrates on digital mixing, recording, editing, and playback. Hardware includes both PCs and iMacs, Yamaha O1V96 mixer, digital field recorders and USB and Firewire interfaces. Software includes Logic, Audacity, SFX and QLab.
There will also be some supervision and mentoring of sound crews for productions.
