Forbidden Fruit: EVOLUTION review by The Toronto Star
In contrast, Forbidden Fruit: Evolution, billed as an “Indo-Contemporary Dance Theatre Production,” succeeds very nicely because of its skilful integration of dance and spoken drama. The impressive cast is well rehearsed and choreographed/ directed by Ashima Suri. – Michael Crabb, July 11 2011

About the Toronto Fringe:
Now in its 24th year, the Toronto Fringe provides creative opportunities for artists and audiences by producing two important festivals – the Toronto Fringe Festival and the Next Stage Theatre Festival – and by running outreach activities that benefit youth, artists and the theatre community at large. Our new home, the Fringe Creation Lab, welcomes independent artists year round, encouraging their creative work by offering them affordable space to make art, congregate and innovate.

Our core activities are:

  1. The Fringe Festival – our flagship event that presents 1200 artists from around the world to 90,000+ attendees each summer
  2. The Next Stage Theatre Festival (NSTF) – a smaller winter festival presenting 10 productions by emerging artists ready to move beyond the summer festival structure, whose audiences have grown by 132% since 2008
  3. Outreach Activities – a variety of programs supporting artists and youth, including a program that distributes 1000 passes to the Fringe Festival to priority youth from across the GTA
  4. The Creation Lab – a subsidized space that offers a professional facility to under-represented artists to create, hone and present new work
