Audition: Voice Actors Needed for Short Radio Play, Jason Samilski

Toronto‐based writer and sound producer looking for 3 voice actors to record a short independent radio play on May 23.

Voices needed:

  • DETECTIVE: (Male, 30 to 50): A slick‐talking cool guy (riffing on Bogart) with fast lines and sharp delivery, but who can be a little mentally off‐kilter at times.
  • CLIENT: (Female: 20 to 40): The classic “beautiful lady in distress comes to seek out the services of a private investigator” kind of thing. She knows how to put on the sob story, and speaks in a sexy, seductive voice.
  • CORONER: Male (30’s and up): The morgue authority who shares some fast talking comedic dialogue with the Detective.

The script is full of unconventional comedy, and comes with the room for much flexibility and experimentation with delivery styles and voice performance.

PRODUCTION DETAILS:
Voice Actors must be available from mid afternoon to 8 p.m. on May 23 for recording session in Parkdale (Queen and Lansdowne). Apologies for the inflexible time, but studio is already secured. *Note: Coroner character required for less time (estimate 1 hour).

I’m producing this project on a budget that would make Tiny Tim seem rich, but I can afford to provide an honorarium for your time. In lieu of a big payout, I promise to create a fun, relaxed, and enjoyable recording atmosphere, and produce a product that will make a great addition to a demo reel.

Please leave a voice message or short applicable monologue with name and contact information at 416‐604‐5994. Sorry, but if there is a high level of response, only those selected will be contacted.

For reference to my work, please feel free to listen to my last radio play at http://www.prx.org/pieces/71219

Thanks!
