 FEBRUARY
By Lisa Moore
A new play based on her acclaimed novel
Directed by Michelle Alexander
Performance Dates: September 21 – October 6, 2012

Alumnae Theatre is proud to present the world premiere of Lisa Moore’s play February, based on her acclaimed novel of the same name.

February is the story of Helen, a Newfoundlander whose husband, Cal, perished in the 1982 sinking of an oil rig. Raising their four children alone, she never managed to get over the shock of losing her husband. The play begins in the present. Helen’s children are all grown up and her eldest son, John, is almost constantly on the road. John suddenly calls Helen from Singapore to announce that he’s about to become a father. The play cuts back and forth over more than 30 years of Helen’s life. For both Helen and John the main preoccupation is the past. February interweaves John’s crisis and the questions it raises about his own life with Helen’s attempt to move forward with hers.
