Playwrights Guild of Canada (PGC) is proud to announce that funding has been secured to hire Bobby Theodore to conduct research on theatre translation. The goal is to create a contract guideline for playwrights and theatre translators to protect the artistic rights of writers.
Mr. Theodore was selected to conduct this research as he is a writer and translator himself, a nominee of the Governor General’s Award for Literary Translation, and has previously worked as a literary agent.
“The aim of this research is to provide a helpful resource that will empower any Canadian playwright as they approach the translation process.”
It is expected that a final draft of the guideline will be made available at the end of November.
