The Free Concert Series in the Richard Bradshaw Amphitheatre is a unique opportunity to experience diverse artistic programming in what has become one of Toronto’s most exciting cultural hubs.  Six inspiring series offer concerts, dance performances and engaging presentations that feature both up-and-coming young artists and established international stars.  All performances are FREE to the public, with admission on a first-come, first-served basis.  Concertgoers are encouraged to arrive early as late seating is not available.

Mozart and Salieri

Under the direction of Barry Shiffman, artists of the Glenn Gould School explore the confluence of East and West in a program of chamber works that includes Bryce, Toru Takemitsu’s evocative work for flute, harp and percussion, Ravel’s enchanting Trois Poèmes de Stéphane Mallarmé and Stravinsky’s Three Japanese Lyrics.

A Wagner Celebration

Chamber Music Series

Kicking off the 200th anniversary celebrations of the birth of Richard Wagner, artists of the COC Orchestra present the exquisite chamber work Siegfried-Idyll, composed as a birthday present for Wagner’s second wife Cosima after the birth of their son Siegfried.  The concert also pays tribute to one of Wagner’s most revered predecessors with the Quintet in E-flat Major for Piano and Winds by Mozart, of whom Wagner said “certain things in Mozart can and will never be excelled.”

The Richard Bradshaw Amphitheatre is a focal point of the Isadore and Rosalie Sharp City Room in the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts, with its striking glass wall allowing for natural lighting and a view of University Avenue.  Linking Ring 3 and Ring 4, the Richard Bradshaw Amphitheatre provides seating for 100 patrons.  Additional seating and standing locations on the walkway and the upper floor are also available.
