Architectural Firm to act as Prime Consultant for Renovation of a Studio Theatre Space
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
In December 2010, Cahoots moved into a studio near Queen and Parliament. In order to turn our new home into a high tech studio space, we will be renovating, as well as purchasing state-of-the-art lighting, sound and projection equipment. This studio will be an asset to the entire Toronto performing arts community, but especially to smaller and culturally diverse companies with limited access to space and equipment. It will allow us to provide the community with an accessible and affordable rehearsal and workshop space, where one will be able to integrate state-of-the-art technology into the development process, and produce works for a small audience.
In order to turn our new 1025 square-foot home into a fully-functioning high tech rehearsal hall/multi-purpose space, we need to perform renovations to the existing space; including but not limited to: closing off and sound proofing the office space, creating a locked storage space, replacing the HVAC system, making the entrance and the washroom wheelchair accessible, upgrading the electrical system to accommodate theatrical equipment, and installing proper flooring. We also need to purchase and install professional state of the art lighting, sound and projection equipment – much of which is energy efficient.
