The Loa of The Divine Narcissus by Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz (in English and Spanish)
Monday October 29 (Free)
Doors open at 7pm, reading at 7:30pm
Mexico’s Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz is considered the first feminist writer of the Americas and the most brilliant literary legend of colonial era. Her intelligence and appetite for knowledge were her greatest strengths, but also – her downfall.
In the spirit of exploring the history of the Americas, Aluna Café presents this short play, first published in 1692, about the encounter between the Aztec people of Mexico and Spanish missionaries.
Don’t miss the great introduction to Sor Juana by our Metcalf Intern, Ana Lorena Leija.
