Workshop: Board Basics, Toronto Alliance for the Performing Arts

This workshop is offered in partnership with WorkInCulture

You know you need your Board but you aren’t quite sure how to make the most out of the relationship. This workshop will explore various kinds of Boards; Board responsibilities (the ‘must do’s’ and the ‘optional’); the difference between Board and staff roles; best practices in terms of structure, officers, committees and task forces; acquiring and motivating volunteer board members; and more. There will be an opportunity for Q&A following the presentation.

Presenter: Diane Davy is the Executive Director of WorkInCulture, a non-profit arts service organization that focuses on business skills training and lifelong career development for people working in the arts and culture sector. Davy also has her own consulting firm, Castledale Inc. that specializes in the business of culture. Throughout her career she has reported to Boards, served as a volunteer Board member and consulted on Board governance for not-for-profits.
