Rasik Arts’ first Roundtable of the season

Rasik Arts

Rasik Arts is back at the 5th Elementt restaurant in Toronto for our first Roundtable of the season on September 18.

We will be reading “Cyrano”, a South Asian version of the classic Cyrano de Bergerac that was produced by the Royal National Theatre and Tara Arts in the UK in 1995. In this re-telling of the story, Cyrano (played in 1995 by Naseeruddin Shah) is the prompter and writer for Durgesh Prasad’s theatre company whose ambitions to be a leading man are thwarted by his large nose. Kishan, a new actor, joins the company and falls in love with the leading actress, the beautiful Rukshaan, whom Cyrano helps him woo.

We meet at 7pm in the back room of the 5th Elementt. All are welcome to join us. There is no admission charge. You may choose to read along silently, or take a part. “Cyrano” is as poetic and witty as the original, with lots of roles to cover.
