Announcement: Creation Lab Open Jam: Oct 25th, 9am –5pm, Toronto Fringe Festival

Creation Lab Open Jam: Oct 25th, 9am –5pm

Creation Lab Launch Party: Oct 25th, 5pm – 7pm

Dust off your thinking hat! Bust out your mind maps! Print off draft 1.0 of your creative project!  And come on down to the Fringe Creation Lab on October 25th, 2011 for a free, all-access Open Jam.  Bring whatever artistic creation you’re currently working on and share the space with a community of like-minded artists!  There will be actors, there will be directors, there will be writers!

Our two brand new studios will be open all day (9am to 5pm) for anyone to use as part of their creative process.  The Neville Austin Studio (Neville’s Nook) will be a multi-purpose space set up with tables, a couple comfy chairs, free wifi, some markers and brainstorming paper, tables for your meetings, some space to move around or rehearse and free coffee!  Studio B will be set up as a break-out space to be used to test creative epiphanies and brilliant ideas on their feet or in privacy.

The Open Jam can be used for whatever purpose you can envision, but here are some suggestions to get the creative juices flowing.  You may want to come to the Open Jam if you are:

  • A playwright who wants to hear their unfinished work out loud.
  • An actor who wants to play and collaborate on new projects.
  • A producer who needs the time and space to think creatively.
  • A director who wants to see a script excerpt on its feet.
  • An arts educator who wants to try out some new drama games or exercises on the community.
  • Anyone interested in contributing to and/or observing the indie theatre community in action!

WHAT!? FREE BEER!?!?!?!?

At the end of the day (5pm to 7pm), pop in for our informal Creation Lab Launch Party.  There will be FREE BEER!  There will be socializing!  There will be folks from all over the theatre community congregating in their new unofficial home: the Fringe Creation Lab!  This will be a great networking opportunity for emerging artists, and a chance for all members of the theatre community to get to know the city’s newest (and most affordable) creation space.

If you would like to be part of our Open Jam, please RSVP to Claire Wynveen at
