PD Day: The Ultimate Board Game / Facilitated by Cheryl Ewing, Cheryl A. Ewing (Kitchener, ON).
Having a strong Board of Directors is a very necessary element in the equation of a healthy, functioning arts organization. Boards and staff often struggle through their respective roles and responsibilities and too often the relationship becomes more negative than positive. Learn what you can do to mitigate challenges and turn this potential adversary into your greatest ally.
This workshop is facilitated by a professional facilitator working with input from a seasoned PACT member and will be further tailored to participant needs based upon input from a participant survey prior to the workshop. Depending upon participant needs this session may touch upon defining roles and responsibilities, Board development, recruitment and retention, creating an arts-friendly board with members of your business community, and will provide the opportunity to share best practices, challenges and opportunities with your PACT peers.
PD DAY The Ultimate Board Game has been presented in Vancouver (December), and will be presented in Toronto facilitated by Cheryl Ewing and a ‘local’ PACT expert. We will be gathering information as we travel between regions, compiling an overview of similiarities and differences found at each session along with a ‘highlight reel’ of best practices, useful tips and relevant data collected along the way. This will be presented as an open discussion at the 2012 Conference at the Huron Country Playhouse in Grand Bend, Ontario.
$100 (+tx) for PACT Members and Affiliates / $115 (+tx) for non-PACT companies / includes coffee and lunch – Register at firstname.lastname@example.org

4th Line Theatre launches their 2012 summer season with an evening of music, food and friends at Baxter Creek Golf Club in Fraserville on Saturday, April 21st. In anticipation of the July opening of Shirley Barrie’s Queen Marie, this 3rd annual fundraising event will celebrate the Golden Age of Hollywood in 1920’s vintage style with: live jazz music of the era by up-and-coming local musicians Aaron Hoffman, Brandon Munroe and Sam Gleason; viewings of Marie Dressler’s silent films; and mouth watering cocktail reception with food inspired by the era.
The emcee for the evening will be Michelle Ferreri, co-anchor and producer of CHEX Television’s Newswatch: The 5 O’clock Show. Ferreri is a long time supporter of 4th Line Theatre – she regularly features 4th Line on her show and recently profiled Robert Winslow in a Person of Interest segment. Ferreri ‘s career has taken her from hosting Cogeco TV’s Plugged In, to the CHEX Newswatch@6 anchor chair and now to the new 5 O’clock Show where she and co-host Teresa Kaszuba travel the Kawarthas to report on upbeat and informative local stories.
In addition to a fabulous silent auction, Rob Rusland from Rusland’s Auctions in Peterborough will be the auctioneer for a live auction featuring exciting items ranging from theatre packages and art from renowned local artist George Raab to a cameo appearance in Sky Gilbert’s St. Francis of Millbrook.
The season launch and fundraiser will give fans an opportunity to spend the evening with some of this season’s lead actors including Shelley Simester (starring as Marie Dressler) and Nathanial Bacon (starring as Luke in St. Francis of Millbrook) and playwrights Shirley Barrie and Sky Gilbert. This exciting event will be a chance for fans of 4th Line Theatre to support the important artistic work the company creates and celebrate the local stories the company has become renowned for presenting on stage.
4th Line Theatre’s season launch is on Saturday, April 21 at 7:00 PM at Baxter Creel Golf Club, 1702 Cedar Valley Road, Fraserville, ON. To purchase tickets or for more information contact 4th Line Theatre at 705-932-4445 or by email at email@example.com. The cost of this event is $50.00 per person ($30.00 tax receipt).
