Call for Submissions: Seeking Independent Theatre Companies to Partner and Produce Season

918 Bathurst Centre for Culture, Arts, Media & Education (www.918bathurst.com) and Apuka Theatre (www.apukatheatre.com) are accepting proposals from Toronto-based independent theatre companies to help form a new ‘loose association’ of companies based out of 918 Bathurst that will facilitate the development and production of works and enliven the Centre.

Our organizations passionately believe that the performing arts are essential in building strong community. Our goal is to combine the artistic visions of local theatre companies into a season that represents the diversity of the greater Toronto community and dynamically engages the public on multiple levels.

918 Bathurst and Apuka Theatre are looking for submissions from a wide range of theatrical styles in order to form a season of diverse shows running from late 2013 through 2014. As a member organization you will contribute to and benefit from:

  1. Print & Online Promotional Sharing
  2. Preferred Rental Rates for Meetings, Auditions, Rehearsals and Productions
  3. Subsidized Fundraisers
  4. Paid opportunities to Lead Workshops & Camps
  5. A diverse array of passionately talented creators, producers and performers

Being part of the collective will not mean losing your own independent voice.

If you are interested in being part of an elite, loose collective of theatre companies in Toronto, then please submit via email to submissions@918bathurst.com the following:

  1. Background Information on your Company
  2. Play you would like to rehearse and produce in 2013/2014
  3. Biographies / CVs of key members of your company
  4. Press clippings
  5. Target Audience and Reach

Tour and Information Session
