Acting Positions Available for 2014-15 Season

Mixed Company Theatre (MCT) produces innovative, socially relevant drama as a tool for positive change. This nationally recognized not-for-profit company uses Forum Theatre and interactive arts to educate engage and empower audiences in schools, communities and workplace.

Actors/actresses for NON-UNION shows

Actors should be comfortable with/have experience:

  • Playing adolescent characters
  • Performing dramatic improv
  • Working with community

Some experience or knowledge of the following would be an asset:

  • Singing ability or musicality
  • Understanding/knowledge of Forum Theatre
  • Bilingual an asset (English & French)

Facilitation Positions Available for 2014-15 Season

 

We are seeking Theatre Workshop Facilitators and Forum Theatre Jokers.

 

Theatre Workshop Facilitators

The Workshop Facilitator will be responsible to:

  • Develop, in consultation with MCT, the curriculum and evaluation of an issue based community theatre workshop
  • Facilitate workshop with community members
  • Prepare post-workshop materials (Workshop reports, surveys, post-mortem meetings)

 

Requirements

  • Minimum 2-3 years of work experience facilitating and developing socially engaged theatre workshops
  • Experience working with communities
  • Strong communications skills in English or French (Bilingual an asset)
  • Excellent active listening skills and effective questioning techniques

 

Forum Theatre Jokers/Facilitators

The Joker/Facilitator will be the liaison between the spect-actor and the character or action on the stage. The Joker establishes trust with the audience and stimulates interaction with the spect-actors to keep the process ‘theatrical’ and to create a safe space for community members to intervene and offer positive options, alternative outcomes and possible solutions.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2-3 years of work experience facilitating/joking Forum Theatre
  • Excellent communication skills in English or French (Bilingual an asset)
  • Excellent improvisational and presentational skills
  • Excellent active listening skills and effective questioning techniques
  • Demonstrates ability to work independently
  • Experience working with youth; theatre for young audience experience an asset
  • Valid Class G drivers license an asset.
