Auditions: HAIR, The Lower Ossington Theatre

The Lower Ossington Theatre is holding auditions for their upcoming production of the Tony Award Winning musical HAIR, which opens August 28th at the Randolph Theatre.

Directed by Alan Kinsella (dir. Hedwig and the Angry Inch) HAIR, the electric musical about a group of young Americans searching for peace and love in a turbulent time, has struck a resonant chord with audiences young and old. The show features unforgettable songs, including “Aquarius”, “Let the Sun Shine In”, “Good Morning, Starshine” and “Easy to be Hard”.


Seeking:
Strong singer/dancer/actors. All roles open. Risk-taking is essential for this show, so take this into consideration when choosing your audition material.

Preparation:
Please prepare two contrasting songs (suitable to the Rock Music style). 32 bars in length with music properly marked, double-sided, and in a binder as an accompanist is provided. Also, prepare one monologue that is no longer than 1 minute in length.

Note: The musical HAIR confronts issues with race, freedom of speech and drug use.

The Lower Ossington Theatre is a Non-Equity theatre which provides a $100.00 rehearsal honorarium and a $40.00/show honorarium (to cover travel and other ancillary costs).

The Lower Ossington Theatre is focused on creating opportunities for young performers, many of whom are recent graduates of top university & college theatre programs across Canada.

The aim of the LOT is to be the next step for young professionals graduating or continuing in theatre schools. We aim to bridge the gap by providing recent graduates and other young artists with opportunities to build their resumes and to continue their theatrical education by working with professional directors, designers, choreographers and artists in a professional theatrical environment within Toronto’s theatre community.
