The Board of Dancemakers is pleased to announce that the newly created position of Curator will become a full time position as the company’s artistic leadership starting this fall. This change is being made to accommodate the rigorous process that came forward in consultation with an appointed search committee, that reviewed applications when the position was announced as part time in April of this year. The search committee has recommended taking the curator position from part time to full time in order to ensure continuity of artistic vision and to meet the demands of this exciting new role.
This change is meant to reflect the full demands and nature of the position and to provide consistent artistic leadership as Dancemakers transitions to its new Incubation Production House model – which replaces the role of Artistic Director with the role of Curator.
The Incubation Production House (IPH) model’s curator role will implement the vision and mandate of the company by making connections between the resident artists’ work, the professional community and the public the company serves. Three resident artists will be invited to make work for the company over staggered three-year terms. The IPH model is an opportunity for Dancemakers to build upon past successes and the strong foundation it has created.
The position and requests for applications are available here. It is expected that this full time position will lead the organization artistically in the first year of its implementation of the IPH model.
