Call for Proposals: The Shape and Form of the Future, Built for Art at 401 Richmond

Built for Art 2014
At 401 Richmond

The Shape and Form of the Future

401 Richmond is celebrating twenty years of creative place-making. This is a place where discoveries are made each day and people are inspired to make, innovate, experiment, and play. It is a place where people imagine the shape and form of the future.

This year, one of the curated zones for Scotiabank Nuit Blanche 2014 (October 4) will be on our doorstep providing an opportunity to directly connect what’s happening on the street outside and what’s happening inside these four walls. We’re inviting you to offer demonstrations, create works, or apply existing projects to the concept of PLAY.

Play happens here every day as part of the creative process feeding curiousity and exploration. It helps thinkers and makers to imagine possibilities, generate ideas, and solve problems. For many, it’s part of taking an idea, concept, or inspiration from Point A to Point B.

It’s also fun.

  • What does play mean to you?
  • How does it show up in your process?
  • How would you bring your experience of play to an audience in an interactive and engaging way?
  • How would you engage in play with a crowd of people?

Choose to reimagine an existing project, or bring us something brand new. All project proposals will be considered.

The building will be open from sunset to sunrise, but projects are not required to run for the full duration of the event.

To apply please send:

– a project proposal
– visual support material
– bio and/or CV
– your full contact information
