Call for Submissions: safeword, The 2015 Safe Words New Canadian Play Award
Submission deadline: November 1
Cost: $10 entry fee
safeword is now accepting submissions for SAFE WORDS 2015, a new Canadian play reading festival and juried competition taking place in May 2015. After the unprecedented success of our previous years’ competition, we are honoured and thrilled to bring back the festival for a second year.
Here’s how it works. Playwrights are invited to anonymously submit a full-length, unproduced play to be put into consideration for the festival/competition. Each applicant is required to provide a modest $10 entry fee with their submission. The company will select four finalists. These finalists will have their plays read in four separate pay-what-you-can public readings as part of the SAFE WORDS 2015 festival in front of a distinguished group of four professional theatre jurors from various disciplines. At the end, the jurors select a winner and all of the money from the entry fees, donations and the event revenue will be accumulated to create ‘The 2015 Safe Words New Canadian Play Award’.
