Aluna Theatre‘s first café of the season is happening Friday September 26th at 7.30pm. We invite you to join us for a reading of Stuff by Coco Fusco and Nao Bustamante. Aluna artists are joined by audience volunteers for this cold read of the script. Stuff is a sharp, satirical, and funny exploration of cultural tourism between North and South, of Latin women, food, and sex. The reading will be preceded by a sharing of food, as we open up a conversation around the politics of cultural consumption.
“We are dealing with how cultural consumption in our current moment involves the trafficking of that which is most dear to us all: our identities, our myths, and our bodies.”
– Coco Fusco, Nao Bustamante. Stuff, TDR 41.4 Winter 1997. 63
About the Aluna Café
In the Latin American and Hispanic culture there has always been a place to talk about and learn from the work of other artists. Aluna Theatre invites you to join us in the rediscovery of this tradition by opening a space of dialogue and enjoyment of great works of drama. Aluna Café is a place to share your ideas and exchange in foreign traditions and new influences. It’s a friendly platform to express your opinions, show or talk about your new creative endeavours and enjoy an evening of theatre and conversation.
