Event: Bridging the Gap – An Open Dialogue About Adversity, Diversity and the Intergenerational Gap in Canadian Theatre, Theatre Ontario

On November 15th Theatre Ontario’s Youth Advisory Committee will host a “Think Tank” at the Annex Theatre to leverage the wisdom and experience of multiple generations of theatre students, enthusiasts, and practitioners.

The day will include speakers, a panel discussion, an option of two workshops, and a performance piece.

Just Announced – Philip Akin, Artistic Director of Obsidian Theatre will deliver the keynote address.

The two workshop topics will cover:

  1. Education, training and experience, by William Webster, founding member and resident artist at Soulpepper Company
  2. Access (and lack of access) to resources, facilitated by Natasha Mytnowych (Managing Director, Artscape Youngplace).

The performance piece will feature collaboration with Mixed Company Theatre Artistic Director Simon Malbogat. Confirmed panelists include Nina Lee Aquino (Co-Artistic Director of Factory Theatre) and Professor Kathleen Gallagher (OISE, University of Toronto) ; Luke Reece, Artistic Director of Little Black Afro Theatre Company; and more!

I have attached a flyer and would appreciate it if you could spread the word amongst your networks.

Thank you for helping us give a voice to young theatre practitioners across the province.

Theatre Ontario’s Youth Advisory Committee (YAC) is a youth-led, run, and facilitated start-up committee. We are concerned with fostering the next generation of theatre artists, practitioners, professionals, and patrons across the province while trying to identify barriers to access and service gaps to youth engagement in theatre.
