Workshop: Writing Masterclass with MOMENT Playwright Deirdre Kinahan, ARC

ARC is proud to offer local emerging performance writers a unique opportunity to engage in a full-day writing masterclass with MOMENT playwright Deirdre Kinahan.

“Developing Character” with Deirdre Kinahan.
TIME: Saturday, November 8, 2014. 11am – 4.30pm.
PLACE: The Grocery @ 1362 Queen Street East.
COST: $120.
APPLICATION DEADLINE: Oct. 30, 2014. 9pm.
Space is strictly limited to 10 participants.

Deirdre is actively involved in the Irish Theatre Sector both as Playwright and Producer. She was a founding member and Artistic Director of Tall Tales Theatre Co. for 15 years, and now sits on the Stewart Parker Trust advisory board, whose mission is to encourage new writing for the stage. Deirdre sits on the board of the Abbey Theatre and Theatre Forum Ireland. Her work is translated into many languages and produced regularly both in Ireland and on the International stage.

Deirdre’s latest play SPINNING recently premiered at the Dublin Theatre Festival 2014 to wild audience and critical acclaim.  She is currently under commission to Manhattan Theatre Club NY, with a further play in development in the UK. Her play GOD’S HOTEL will receive a Dublin Premiere in 2015.

Deirdre is co-writing her first feature film with the support of the The Irish Film Board and has another feature in development with BLINDER films, Dublin. She is published by Nick Herne Books.  Deirdre has written for The Royal Court and Bush Theatre London. Fishamble Theatre, Abbey Theatre, Civic Theatre, Project Arts Centre, Tall Tales and Livin Dred in Ireland. Plays include: SPINNING, HALCYON DAYS, BOGBOY, MOMENT, HUE & CRY, WHERE’S MY SEAT, PROTEST, MELODY, and MAISY DALY’S RAINBOW.

Deirdre has won numerous playwriting awards – most notably a Fringe First for HALCYON DAYS in 2013, and BBC Northern Ireland’s Tony Doyle Bursary in 2009. She is the recipient of the Jim McNaughton Tilestyle Bursary (2013) and a Peggy Ramsay Award (2014).
