TOM HENDRY: KICKSTARTER OF CANADIAN THEATRE
Free Public Event
5:00pm to 7:00pm
Many people, maybe even you, keep theatre posters and programs from shows they see or work on. Few, however, make the impact on theatre in Canada that Tom Hendry did.
Theatre Museum Canada is delighted to share with you these posters that Tom’s family donated to the museum – and to share the glimpse they offer you of our country developing its professional theatre. Tom was a playwright, producer, administrator, director, literary manager, policy creator, founder – and it turns out, a collector of posters. (Most of the posters in this exhibit were kept in a box under his bed). When he started working in theatre, plays by Canadians were rarely seen. Tom was one of the people who changed that.
