Workshop: Creative Writing Workshop Focusing on Dramatic Text, Coleen MacPherson

A creative writing workshop focusing on dramatic text, journeying participants through exercises that bring writing into movement. We will observe, play and write. Looking at the concrete, dramaturgy, physical action, language and writing from the body. Inspired by Ecole Jacques Lecoq, Coleen MacPherson, writer and theatre maker, will lead the workshop with the goal of inspiring writers, theatre makers and creative types to capture the world in writing.

COLEEN MACPHERSON, is a playwright, actor, director and poet and is currently a member of the Arcola Theatre’s Writers’ Group in London, UK. Coleen trained at UCDP and at École Internationale de Théâtre Jacques Lecoq, where she mentored with French playwright Michel Azama. MacPherson has mentored with Daniel Brooks and worked with various theatre companies in Toronto such as Necessary Angel and also toured work to Shanghai, China (International Contemporary Theater Festival) with TheatreRUN, performing work at Canadian Stage, Summerworks Festival and Nuit Blanche Toronto and Paris. Coleen’s plays have been performed in Montreal, Toronto, and the UK. She works with internationally renowned touring theatre company, Wet Picnic performing in The Birthday Party and Time for Tea.

Her play First Draft was recently performed at the Camden People’s Theatre and was a part of Mimetic Festival in London this past November 2014. She is currently developing a new play, This is why we Live… with the support of the Canada Council for the Arts.
