Project: The Greater Toronto CivicAction Alliance is looking for 6 artists of various disciplines to participate in its next Toronto Summit, February 10 and 11, 2011. Every four years, this major regional gathering of leaders from business, labour, academics, non-profit, volunteer and government sectors, come together to consider current challenges and opportunities facing the Toronto region and inspire ground-breaking thinking about how to respond to them. Availability: Artists must be available 8am – 5pm, February 10 and 11, 2011. Some flexibility may be negotiated.

Event: Organizers are looking for 6 “Artistic Interpreters” to participate in the two-day Summit. Selected artists would take in panel discussions and sit-in on round tables, absorbing the themes, ideas, and discussions, and contributing to the discussion as appropriate. Each artist will be given a small area in the lobby in which to activate and interpret the discussion and inspire new approaches. At various points throughout the day artists will be invited to activate their space. Any artistic discipline that can be created on site and publicly shared is welcomed: visual artists, spoken-word performers, dancers, musicians, photographers,
videographers, etc. Artists are expected to provide all materials they require. On February 10, artists might help us gain a new perspective on the challenges being discussed. On February 11, artists might provide their own unique vision of what Toronto could be.

Benefits: Selected artists will receive a full access pass to participate in the two-day Summit, where attendance is by invitation only. Participants will be able to build networks and share their talents with many of the Toronto region’s leaders in business, labour, academic, government, cultural and not-for-profit sectors. Lunch will be provided on each day. A small honorarium will be discussed.
